We heard torque sensor is one of the best solutions for pedaling assist system on ebikes from many experience e-bike riders, then why torque sensor ebikes are so great on ebikes? Following are the 5 most obvious advantages of torques sensor ebikes we summarized after research.

1. Torque sensor ebikes are natural as normal bicycles for riding

The only way to get the maximum power out of torque sensor e-bikes  is to pedal harder,  it feels much more natural so if you want a bike that looks like a bicycle, rides like a bicycle but it just adds a little bit more power to what you can naturally do, then an e-bike with torque sensor may be best for you. Like DYU R1 e-bike that we have in stock is a great example of that many people might not even realize this is even an e-bike but all it does is amplify your own power.

2. Torque sensor ebikes come with low latency when pedaling

The most simple form of Pedal Assist System uses a cadence sensor that measures roughly how fast the pedals are turning. The faster the rider pedals, the more power is sent to the motor. It works, but it has a few drawbacks. For example, cadence sensors tend to exhibit power lag while the system is counting the first few pedal rotations to determine speed. When the user starts to pedal, it takes a second or two for the power to kick in. A more elegant PAS sensor is a torque-sensor. These measure how hard the rider is pedaling, not how fast. The reading is nearly instantaneous, which means that the power comes on quickly without any lag.

3. Torque sensor ebikes look better outside

The battery of torque sensor bikes are usually integrated into the downtube of the frame or the seat post, which comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. Integrated batteries make the bike look sleeker and stealthier than bulky external batteries, and the batteries are also harder to steal. On the other hand, the batteries also can’t be easily removed for charging (most are designed to be removed only for servicing) and thus the battery must be charged on the bike. Anyway, good-looking e-bikes with torque sensors are more suitable for city riding because it looks more comfortable in public.

4. Torque sensor ebikes bring you a longer mileage

Torque sensors also usually extend battery range, as they only deliver as much power as needed. In contrast, I find myself having to brake more often on cadence-only systems to regulate my speed. The caveat is the price. Torque sensors are far more sophisticated components and thus a lot more expensive to make, so they’re typically only offered in more expensive ebikes. Luckily, DYU company has realized a price breakthrough in the torque sensor ebike field through its years of ebike manufacturing experience accumulation, now you can get yourself a brand new toque sensor ebike under $1000.

5. Torque sensor ebikes make you healthier by cycling (without too much sweat)

If you really enjoy the cycling part of ebikes, there’s a good chance you’ll prefer the more natural input provided by a torque sensor. You don’t need to be a die-hard cyclist either; I’m a casual rider and I still find it hard to go back to cadence-only ebikes these days.  Torque sensor ebikes allow you to do cycling exercises while still keeping your riding efficient and fast. Kill two birds with one stone, so it’s a wonderful deal.

Conclusion

Torque sensor ebikes rides definitely better observing from the 5 advantages above. It’s common sense that torque sensor ebikes are more premium and expensive.
